With a Master Degree in Marine Engineering at Ecole Centrale de Marseille, Pierre Cordier began his career in 1992 as a pipeline design engineer at Subsea7. He then joined Chantiers de l’Atlantique in 2000 as a project manager for the construction of ocean liners, and became Business Developer in offshore wind assets. In 2013, he joined D2M Engineering as senior project manager and naval architect.
In 2020, Pierre Cordier founded XP Sea to better serve its customers thanks to an agile structure, capable of bringing together the best maritime skills in France or abroad.

On board a 42-foot catamaran under XP Sea flag, an enthusiast crew sailed over 3000 nautical miles from Lanzarote (Canary islands) to Martinique (Caraibbean island) in less than 23 days. The departure took place on December 29, 2023, and the arrival on January 20, 2024.
Thanks to an excellent preparation of both the boat and the crew, particularly in all safety aspects, the crossing went very smoothly.
A combination of sail and engine power was used during a few days of light winds in the first part of the journey, allowing for the assessment of the sail propulsion’s contribution to diesel consumption. Fine tuning optimized this consumption while maintaining a minimum speed of 5 knots. No cavitation was observed at this level of propulsion.
Numerous cetaceans were observed: mainly dolphins, one (fortunately peaceful) orca, and an impressive fin whale that accompanied us for 2 days. This behavior remains mysterious.
The return journey will be made in May by a new crew.
